摘要:T his stu dy re ports on the pe rceptions of new a cademic sta ff on a new sta ff indu ction programme at a South African university. Using the desc riptive survey design a n eva lua tion instrument with semi-structured a nd open-ended que stions was a dministere d to participants to c olle ct data. For data analysis, emerging t he me s were identified from the data using content analysis. T he study concludes tha t the induction programme is of great va lue to the Unive rsity and its te aching staff, be ca use it ser ves to infor m ne w staff on good tea ching pra ctic e and connects the new staff to the neede d resources to na viga te administrative, fina ncial, human resource s and support service responsibilities. The study recommends the issuing of a sta ff manual upon new staff arrival before induction ta ke s pla ce, the a ppointment of mentor s to w ork w ith new sta ff in th eir depa rtments and a ne tw orking and reflective for um for new staff to share experie nc es and pra ctice .
