摘要:The aim of this study wa s to investigate educa tors' perceptions of the effects of teenage pregnancy on the beh aviou r of the lea rne rs in some South A frica n sec onda ry schools. Four teen e duc ator s from se ve n secondary sc hools were purposively sampled for the study. D ata were collected using in-depth interviews to a llow the re sea rcher s a pla tform to a sk open-response questions a nd to explore the educa tors' perspective s a bout the effects of teenage pregna ncy. The data were analysed thematically by carefully identifying and expanding significant themes tha t emerged from the informants' per ceptions about the effe cts of teena ge pregna nc y. The stu dy revealed that tee nage pre gna ncy has a nega tive or de tr imenta l effec t on the sc hool attenda nc e, a cademic perfo rma nce, emotional beha viour and relationships betwee n pregna nt teena gers, their peer s and e du cator s. I mplic a tions for te acher tr aining to mana ge the se e ffec ts wer e give n.
