摘要:T his explora tory study analyses the la rge ly undocumented history of H enry Murr ay specia l school for the de af, a residential school e stablishe d in 1947 in Zimba bwe. The study explores the extent to whic h the sc hool str ives to meet its or iginal manda te of catering exclusively for deaf learners. To do this th e history of the school is ca ptured by interviewing stakeholders such a s tea chers, parents of deaf children, current and former pupils as well a s members of the loca l community. T his results in a documentation of how the school's initial academic, voc ationa l a nd socia l ethos, va lues and goa ls have cha nged over the years.
