  • 摘要:I n this pa per toxic lea dership refers to destructive leade rship w he re the school pr incipal and the School G overning Bodies a re in constant conflict over their functions. One might think tha t school principals and sc hool gove rning bodies a re w or king harmoniously in schools. In some tow nship schools, especia lly in G auteng secondary schools there is a challenge experienced by both school principals and School Governing Bodies (SGBs). Tru st is a critica l element for effective leadership and governa nce in schools. In some township sch ools in South Africa there is a challenge experienced by both school principals and school governing bodies. T heir disa greements lea d to ineffective teaching a nd learning in schools. All other sta keholders' effectiveness in the G auteng Tow nship schools de pends on the lea dership of the sc hool principa ls and the School Governing Bodie s. T he nega tive effects of toxic lea dership on teac hing a nd lea rning in sc hools a re the following, na mely: poor working r ela tionship between stakeholders; dysfunctional schools; poor tea ching a nd learning; neglect of duty by stakeholders; a buse of power by school principal and SG Bs; inadequate resources; no mutual trust; fear; unregula ted freedom; and unacceptable behavior This is not an e xha ustive list
