摘要:Innovation plays an important role in ensuring the survival and growth of business firms. It becomes even more vital within the varied contexts of saturated, matured, turbulent, or low-barrier market entry to which the Mala ysian halal food industry is not immuned. Given that the issue would become more critical when small firms were involved this study e xamined the innovation practices of small halal food enterprises in the country. Da ta were gathered through six in-depth focus group inquiries. The recorded interviews were transcribed and anal yzed by the relevant themes. The findings showed that manufacturers had adopted certain type of innovation practices specifically under Quadrants 3, 4 and 7 which respectively correspond with the incremental, the ingested and the created innovation types , and with products, services or market targets (quadrants 3 & 7) and with administration or marketing processes (quadrants 4 & 7). Thus, it can be concluded that the entire innovation activity of the small halal food manufacturers was confined to the initiating level with a relatively slow momentum
