摘要：At IACIS 2012, a case study was presented that explored the CIS identity crisis occurring at a 9,000 - student , state institution in the northeast , U.S.A . Confusion, miscommunication, and an ignorance of – and a general lack of respect for – the CIS discipl ine were identified as some of the reasons behind the underrepresentation of CIS at that university , resulting in suffering enrollments in the major. In direct follow up to that effort , this paper explores some empirical case evidence of th is same "CIS In visibility Phenomenon" at the northeastern institution, in attempts to drill down to the fundamental pitfalls in the promotion of CIS at that university . While research shows that there is no silver - bullet solution to this prominent and on - going issue in CIS discipline recognition, the continuation of this study could prove beneficial in understanding the cultural implications of the phenomenon and offer some insight to counter the residual, negative effects.
