摘要:The following article takes a look at the effects of the tutoring project "Kolumbus-Kids" on year five and six students' interest and motivation. First of all, the section Background (1.) will give a short summary why tutoring gifted students is of utmost importance and how the "Kolumbus-Kids"-project tries to support the development of the children's talent. The next passages will then describe the theories of Interest and Motivation (1.1.) and the Academic Self-Concept (1.2.) which also underlay the questionnaire used in this study. The following section provides the Hypotheses (2.) that were examined here. They basically aim at the difference in development of students participating in the project and ones only attending the regular biology classes of a secondary school regarding the concepts mentioned above over the course of one year. Subsequently, the Methods (3.) used in the study will be explained. This includes the conduct of the study as well as a description of the sample from which the data was collected. The analysis of the Results (4.) then shows that there were in fact distinctions in development between the different groups of students which will be described according to the hypotheses. The last section finally deals with the Discu ssion (5.) of the results to be found. It shows that the hyp otheses regarding the students' motivation of the students were verified by the collected data, whereas tho se concerning the self-concepts proved to only be true in parts. What was shown, though, is that the means found in the group attending the project's classes are generally higher than the other groups' means, thus showing the project has a positive effect on the talented students' development.
