摘要:The purpose of this study is to determine whether 8th, 10th, and 11th grade students perform better on social studies questions which include concept or concepts compared to questions which do not include at least one concept. The author used secondary data analysis. The population for this study co nsists of all 8th, 10th, and 11th grade students enrolled in Texas schools during 2005 -2006 and 2008-2009 educational years. The findings showed that there were significant differences between concept questions and nonconcept questions correctness response percentages for each grade level. Students more often chose correct answer for nonconcept questions than concept questions Also, the results indicated that there were significant differences between male and female students on the percentage of correct concept questions for each grade level. The mean percentages of correct concept questions for males were significantly higher than females
