摘要：Starting from the idea that tourists seeking authentic experiences in the times and places off the everyday of their lives,"in other historical periods and in other cultures, inpurer and simpler lifestyles" (MacCannell, 1999[1976]: 3), the historic centers are taken not only as the result of social and cultural processes, but also considered as revealing symbols practices integrated into the processof apprehension and understanding of the place visited. In this paper we intend to realize the importance of studying the"authenticity of tourism" for the stimulation of demand for a destination. Following an anthropological perspective, we analyze the tourist behavior towards the cultural consumption in the historic center with World Heritage qualification. The methodology used for the implementation of a total of 180 questionnaires totourists visiting the historical center of the city of Tomar, Portugal, in July and August 2014
