摘要：La amenaza por inundaciones en la parte media de la cuenca del río Guarenas, toma importancia por su recurrencia y por la existencia de emplazamientos urbanos vulnerables en acelerado crecimiento y expansión representados por las ciudades de Guarenas, Guatire y Araira. El fenómeno pone en riesgo a la población que allí se asienta, sus actividades y bienes. El objetivo del trabajo fue caracterizar las áreas susceptibles a la ocurrencia de desbordamientos en la cuenca del río Guarenas, estado Miranda. Se evaluaron datos ambientales conformados por lluvias mensuales, geomorfología y pendientes. Los resultados sugieren que debido a las características físicas de las subcuencas de los ríos, así como las quebradas, y debido a la acción de las lluvias, sobre un relieve con pendientes suaves y suelos predominantemente arcillosos, representan elementos que inciden en las inundaciones; hay que agregar las acciones antrópicas: intervención en las cuencas altas, la no canalización en algunos sectores de estos cursos de agua, la presencia de escombros, y desechos sólidos en los cauces que constituyen obstáculos para la corriente de aguas.
其他摘要：The threat of flooding in the Guarenas river takes significance for recurrence, and the existence of vulnerable rapid urban growth and expansion sites, represented by the cities of Guarenas, Guatire and Araira, Miranda state (INE, 2001 ). This occurrence threatens the people who sits there, its activities and assets. The objective was to identify and characterize the areas susceptible to the occurrence of floods in the river. We evaluated environmental data consisting of monthly rainfall, geomorphology, and slopes. The results suggest that due to the physical characteristics of the sub-basins of the rivers and streams, and due to the action of rain, on a relief and gentle slopes with predominantly clay soils, they represent elements that impact on flooding. There are actions that add man: intervention in the upper, non-channeling in some areas of these watercourses, the presence of debris and solid waste in rivers, which constitute obstacles to the flow of water.
