摘要：Esta pesquisa partiu da constatação de dificuldades no tocante à compreensão leitora por parte de alunos do ensino fundamental. Com base em Silva (1999), Martins (1994), Freire (2006), Soares (2005), Geraldi (1995), entre outros, analisamos o discurso de duas professoras de 2o ano de 2o ciclo de uma escola de referência do Recife. O objetivo era conhecer e discutir concepções e práticas no campo da leitura escolar. A análise dos dados na perspectiva do paradigma indiciário de pesquisa nos permitiu perceber que parece haver uma relação entre os desempenhos dos alunos e o modo como suas professoras concebem e praticam a leitura; concluímos também que a mediação pedagógica e o trabalho interpretativo encaminhado pelas docentes, na medida em que estão centrados na reflexão favorecem o desenvolvimento da compreensão, da criticidade e da argumentação dos alunos, podendo ser esse um fator significativo para o sucesso da escola na avaliação institucional empreendida
其他摘要：The idea of this research began with the understanding of the reading difficulties students in elementary schools had. Based on Silva (1999), Martins (1994), Freire (2006), and Geraldi (1995) among others, we analyzed the discourse of two teachers from the second year ofthe second cycle of a reference school from in Recife. The objective was to know and todiscuss conceptions and practices in the field of school classroom reading. The data analysis in the perspective of a indiciary paradigm research had made us realize the details present in the conception and practices of the observed teachers and, thus, we realized that it seems to have a relation between the pupils performances and the way that their teachers conceive and practicethe reading; we also concluded that the pedagogical mediation and the interpretative work directed by the teachers, as long as they are centered in reflection, can help the development of understanding level, criticism and argument in students. It may be the significant factor for the school success concerning the local and national valuation income.
