摘要：O objetivo deste artigo é analisar como os sentidos construídos pelos diversos agentes se cruzam na expressão da exemplaridade das escolas em que lecionaram ou estudaram. Os resultados aqui apresentados se inscrevem no campo da história das instituições e das culturas escolares, com foco de interesse nos agentes educativos e no espaço escolar, mais detidamente nos edifícios escolares. Os estudos sobre os atores educativos permitem trazer as pessoas da escola para o retrato histórico, ao mesmo tempo em que promove a transição entre uma abordagem contextual para uma análise especificamente textual (o texto constituído pelas vivências e pelas “vozes” dos agentes). Ao analisar dados de pesquisa sobre escolas que teriam sido, não apenas referência de qualidade e de formação, mas também percebidas como ligadas à própria identidade cultural dos grupos sociais que se expressavam como “elites” nas cidades em que estavam instaladas, em momentos históricos específicos, concluiu-se que o sentido da exemplaridade, se expressa, para seus agentes: na monumentalidade se seus edifícios; na seletividade dos processos de admissão dos alunos – era para “muito poucos”; no grau de exigência – quem vinha de escolas menos exigentes tinha dificuldades em acompanhar as aulas; na “excelência” dos professores – “professores de verdade” que eram selecionados e sentiam que era uma honra lecionar naquela escola; no respeito que cercava a relação dos alunos com seus professores que, segundo alguns, chegava a ser “adoração”.
其他摘要：This paper aims to analyse how the different senses built by different agents are intersected in the expression of the exemplarity of a school where they have taught or studied. The results presented here are inscribed in the History of the Institutions and School Culture field, focusing on the educational agents and the school, and more sharply on the school buildings. The studies about the educational agents allow us to bring the people of the school to the historical picture while promoting the transition from a contextual approach to a mainly textual analysis ( the text formed by the agents´ “voices” and lives). When analysing the research data about schools which were not only a reference of quality and education, but also regarded as connected to the cultural identity of the social groups who expressed themselves as the “elite” of the cities where these schools were situated, in particular historical periods, it was possible to verify that the sense of exemplarity expresses itself to the agents of the schools in the monumentality of their buildings; in the selectivity of the admission - it was for “few”; in its requirements – the ones who came from less demanding schools had difficulties in attending the classes; in the “excellence” of their teachers – they were “real teachers” who were selected and felt that it was an honor to teach at that school; in the respect which surrounded the relationship between the teachers and the pupils that, according to some, was almost considered “adoration”.
