摘要：El propósito de esta investigación fue determinar el valor de la ética para alcanzar la excelencia en la gerencia universitaria. La metodología utilizada fue documental, consultándose autores como Cortina (1996, 2000), Conill (1998), Morris (1998) y Gutiérrez (1997), entre otros, así como documentos oficiales de quince universidades venezolanas. Se concluyó que: 1)las universidades enuncian sus valores, siendo el más común justicia, seguido de excelencia, solidaridad y ética; 2) la calidad es un aspecto vital de la excelencia y 3) a través de la ética puede gerenciarse con excelencia. Se recomienda implantar el concepto de calidad de gestión, adiestramiento gerencial que incluya la función ética y talleres de ética en todos los niveles organizacionales.
其他摘要：The aim of this research was to determinate the value of ethics to achieve the excellence in the university management. The method used was documentary based on the theoretical contributions of authors as Cortina (1996, 2000), Conill (1998), Morris (1998) and Gutierrez (1997), and fifteen Venezuelan universities official documents. It concluded: 1) the universities have their values expressed, being justice the more common value, followed by excellence, solidarity and ethics; 2) the quality is a vital aspect of the excellence and 3) excellence can be managed through ethics. It could be recommended to implant the concept of management with quality and training including ethics at ethics workshops at all levels of the organization.
