摘要：Este artículo pretende explicar por qué los habitantes de la frontera noreste de la Nueva España no eligieron la rebelión armada como estrategia principal para confrontar el poder colonial. Sugiere, por el contrario, que los pobladores de dicha región aprovecharon las ventajas de vivir en una frontera imperial para contrabandear y establecer redes de comercio ilegal con distintas naciones de indios y estadounidenses de Lui-siana y otras provincias. Mediante el contrabando, los norestenses buscaron evadir las restricciones comerciales de la Nueva España. También se describen las rutas, los participantes y el funcio-namiento de este comercio ilegal.
其他摘要：This article explain why the habitants of Eastern border in New Spain did not choose the armed struggle as their main strategy to confront the colonial pow-er. It suggests that the habitants of the four provinces took advantage of living in a borderland region to smuggle and establish illegal trade networks with different Indian nations and Americans from Louisiana and other provinces. By smuggling, northeasterners sought to evade New Spain’s trade restrictions. It also describes the routes, participants, and functioning of this illegal trade.
