摘要：El espectacular desarrollo de las plantaciones azucareras, primero en el occidente de la isla, posteriormente en buena parte de ella desde mediados del siglo XVIII, ha oscurecido notablemente el conocimiento que actualmente tenemos del desarrollo de dicho cultivo, especialmente en la etapa final de su estanco a fines del siglo XVIII y principios del siglo XI. Este trabajo pretende realizar un bosquejo sobre las principales dificultades que experimentó dicho cultivo en la Gobernación oriental, ya que, como veremos más adelante, el declive de este cultivo tuvo ciertas diferencias con el proceso desarrollado en el occidente cubano, donde la pugna por las tierras de cultivo suscitadas por la expansión de las haciendas azucareras marcó de manera notable el transcurrir de este periodo.
其他摘要：The spectacular development of the sugar plantations, first in the western part of Cuba, later expanding to the rest of the island since the mid-eighteenth century, has dampened dramatically the knowledge that we currently have of sugar expansion, especially in the final stages of its demise in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century. This work intends to make a sketch of the main difficulties experienced by this crop in the eastern interior, since, as discussed below, the decline of this crop had some differences with the process developed in western Cuba, where the struggle for land raised by the expansion of sugar plantations significantly marked this period.
