摘要：O objetivo deste estudo é descrever a relação de um importan- te intelectual, Manoel Bon fi m, e suas propostas educacionais com o pen- samento higienista. Teve como hipótese que a análise do povo brasileiro construída por Bon fi m estaria próximo dos ideais higienistas. Para o estudo deste problema foi realizada uma pesquisa histórica com a contextualização de fontes primárias, delimitadas pelos livros de Bon fi m. Concluiu-se que a mentalidade de Manoel Bon fi m, que defendia o aumento da intervenção do Estado no campo da Educação e Saúde, aproximou os higienistas de suas posições. Para ele, a educação popular era fundamental para o desenvolvi- mento do país, tese comum em sua época que, posteriormente, se consoli- dou no pensamento social brasileiro no pós-1930.
其他摘要：The objective of this study is to describe the relationship be- tween the educational proposals of an important intellectual, Manoel Bon- fi m, and the thought of hygienists. The hypothesis is that the analysis of the Brazilian people, built by Bon fi m, was similar to the ideals of sanitarians. To conduct the study a historical research was carried out, delimited by Ma- noel Bon fi m’s books. It was concluded that the mentality of this intellectual, as the hygienists’, advocated a state intervention in the fi eld of Health and Education. According to Bon fi m, popular education was fundamental to the development of the country, a common argument in his time, which was later consolidated in the Brazilian social thought after the 1930’s.
