摘要:In 1970, the Moody Blues, a rather in- novative British rock band, released their sixth collection. The group was known for "concept albums," tying all of the songs to a central theme. This one didn't disappoint. Released in the middle of the grim Russ- ian-American Cold War, coinci- dent with the grinding later years of the fighting in Vietnam, the albu m raised¡ªand tried to answer¡ªquestions of "hate and death and war," to qu ote from one of the songs on the album. The Moody Blues called it A Question of Balance. It was typical of the era. Today, it's a quaint pe- riod piece from another century, yet their provocative lyrics and haunting melodies got one thing dead right: When you talk about war, and especially preparing for war, it's always a question of balance.
