摘要：Cet article aborde les différents usages du verbe stand dans des périodes antérieures de l’anglais (du 9ème au 20ème siècle), sur la base de données issues de l’Oxford English Dictionary.Alors qu’en anglais contemporain, les verbes de position ne sont pas utilisés aussi fréquemment que dans les autres langues germaniques, où ces verbes ont subi un processus de grammaticalisation et sont devenus des verbes de localisation d’entités animées et inanimées, certains anciens usages de stand (tout comme ceux de sit et lie) montrent des emplois assez proches de ceux que l’on retrouve dans les autres langues germaniques contemporaines.Cet article offre une analyse sémantique cognitive des anciens emplois de stand et avance trois hypothèses qui pourraient expliquer la disparition, ou plutôt la non-grammaticalisation des verbes de position en anglais.
其他摘要：This article discusses the different uses of the verb stand in earlier stages of the English language, based on data from the Oxford English Dictionary. While Modern English does not use the posture verbs all that much compared to the other Germanic languages where these verbs have become basic locative verbs, the older uses show that English stand (as well as the other posture verbs sit and lie) was used in a way quite similar to what is found in other Germanic languages today. In this paper, we present a cognitive lexical semantic analysis of these older uses and suggest three hypotheses that could possibly account for the disappearance (or rather, the non-grammaticalisation) of the English posture verbs.
