摘要：La nouvelle de Conrad « Youth » est un intéressant mélange de tradition et de modernité. Suivant la tradition littéraire, Conrad manipule les cadres narratifs et les récits enchâssés, en même temps qu’il réfléchit à l’acte intime de raconter ou d’écouter des histoires orales. Mais l’auteur utilise la tradition du récit d’aventure pour mieux l’adapter et la déstabiliser. En effet, le moderne/post-moderne est à l’œuvre dans la disposition dialogique (au sens Bakhtinien de ce terme) de ce texte et dans ses dimensions métafictionnelle et intertextuelle qui creusent la thématique de la perte. En outre, ce texte annonce l’orientation générale du postmodernisme en combinant des discours hétérogènes qui donnent au récit une épaisseur et une profondeur qui renouvellent notre lecture.
其他摘要：Conrad’s short story ‘Youth’ is interestingly complex in its weaving together of disparate fictional elements old and new. The old is prominent in the manipulation of narrative framing in multi-layered narratives intertwined with the intimate act of telling and listening to oral stories. Besides, Conrad evokes the standard seafaring story of far-away lands, adapting and yet simultaneously destabilizing it. The modern/postmodern is at work in a dialogic disposition (in the Bakhtinian sense) along with the shifting discourse that characterizes Conrad’s oeuvre, a metafictional quality, intertextual space, and there is the sense of loss and pointlessness of striving that is fairly common in such writing. Further, the text anticipates the general orientation of postmodernism in conflating heterogeneous discourses. This, in effect, grants depth to the narrative, and opens it up to a new understanding.
