摘要：The article introduces one of the aspects of Moscow psychological school’s scientific heritage - concept of will and character proposed in the end of 1920s by a pupil of G.I.Chelpanov, the distinguished psychologists and pedagogue V.M.Exemplyarskiy. In the period of mass interest in psychological technologies the scientist posited their secondariness in relation to uniqueness of personal being; from these positions he developed a system of psychological methods for upbringing and self-upbringing of volition. The scientist proved the leading role of self-contained personal efforts in formation of character as a moral face of the willing man. Inter-disciplinary perspective of viewing the will problem, an attempt of psychological interpretation of phenomena of spiritual nature, use of psychological analysis categories in their historically original meaning, well-defined orientation towards practical use of theoretical research results clearly show the uniqueness and actual importance of V.M.Exemplyarskiy’s approach and allow one to speak of existence of a Chelpanov-like trend in applied psychology, the justification of aims and methods of which was based on experimentals of the Orthodox ascetic tradition.
