摘要：The article provides comparative analysis of different approaches to action in Russian psychology; outlines semantic differences between the category of «action» in Russian and English languages, traces the history of assimilation of this concept by Russian psychological science. The article deals with a range of attempts to separate notions of «activity» (deyatelnost') and «action». The analysis of works in psychophysiology allows correlating conclusions on psychophysiological references with everyday notions of action. The article suggests ideas for overcoming semantic ambivalence of this category and thus helps to better operationalize the concept of «action» with the purpose of applied research.
