摘要:As AALL president, I am foreverpicking up the phone to ask ourmembers to lend a hand with onething or another, and yet I always do sowith the trepidation that my timing islikely to be off. While we are fortunateto have a community of generous anddedicated librarians to help put ourplans into action, I know that makingthe decision to volunteer—to rearrangeyour personal and professionalresponsibilities to find space for yetanother commitment—is rarely anuncomplicated proposition. We allwrestle with the same competing forces,between setting boundaries and fulfillingambitions, excelling at the job we’re paidto do and exploring opportunities thatreally ignite our passions. I suspect there’salmost never a perfect time for anything,especially anything of great importance
