摘要:When I started mycareer in Las Vegas,I went from being areference librarianto director of libraryservices less than ayear after finishingmy MLIS. I was alsothe only librarianat a law firm in Nevada, so I had to findconnections quickly just to do my job. Imade friends with the other law librariansin the state (not many) and then had thechance to go to my first Annual Meetingin Seattle (2003) and to the Conferenceof Newer Law Librarians (CONELL). ThereI made connections that gave me a virtualcommunity even when I felt all alone inthe Wild West. The friendships I made andthose early connections into special interestsection and chapter work have helpedmold me into the successful professionalI am today. I would not be where I amnow without the power of connection
