  • 摘要:Knowing the different growth stages of a pineapple plant is fundamental for its nutritional management, in order to optimize resource use for a more profitable and sustainable production. This study determined the growth curve of pineapple (Ananas comosus var. MD-2) based on the weight gain of the plant. The research was carried out on the “B y Jimenez” farm, located in Pavon, Los Chiles, Alajuela. Four blocks were identified and sampled randomly three different times at key moments during the first cycle of crop production. The curve shows a sigmoid growth with three well-marked stages. The first stage started with the vegetative stage, where the plant does not show increased growth in fresh weight (FW) or dry matter (DM) in the first 14 weeks. The development phase started from the week 14 until the week 54 after planting, with an exponential growth. The final stage of production was marked by forcing and the subsequent appearance of the fruit and crown, where the increase in DM was lower compared to the previous stage but the growth in the FW was higher, because at the time of harvesting the plant is about 88 % water. On the other hand, the DM of the root was irregular throughout the growing period with respect to the total DM of the plant. The foliage represented 87 % of the total DM from week zero to week 48. This percentage is reduced by week 62 after planting, due to the presence of the fruit, which represented 32 % of the total weight of the plant with respect to DM.
