摘要：This project evaluated the civic education program EcoRomería. EARTH University, the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Telecommunications, the Ministry of Health, eleven universities, volunteers, and other organizations in the public and private sector in Costa Rica joined forces to promote the realization of this program, taking as the reference point Law 8839 for the comprehensive management of waste, and generating education and environmental awareness among citizens that walked to the Basilica of Cartago. For this project, survey methods and direct observation were used to evaluate the level of education people had in terms of solid waste management, their pilgrimage behavior using the waste classifiers, and the classification efficiency during the activity in August 2012. The results showed that the pilgrims received the message not to throw solid waste on the streets and learned to separate the waste into four categories, which was confirmed by the classification efficiency of 96.4 %.
