摘要:Ongoing monitoring of vulnerabilities in the Canadianfinancial system is essential for assessing threats tofinancial stability and providing authorities with thenecessary information for considering policy actions. The Bank of Canada regularly evaluates vulnerabilitiesin the Canadian financial system, such as (i) thedegree of leverage, (ii) funding and liquidity issues,(iii) the pricing of risk, and (iv) opacity, in four mainareas—financial sector entities, shadow banking, asset markets and the non-financial sector. The Bank’s approach to vulnerability and risk assessmentbuilds on research related to amplificationmechanisms and contagion through the financialsystem. It is comprehensive in terms of drawing on awide range of data, innovative tools and other information.Nevertheless, important gaps in data, modelsand knowledge remain. The task of assessing financial system vulnerabilitiesis a dynamic one that will evolve with the constantlychanging financial system, the availability of newinformation and the development of improved assessmenttechniques.
