  • 摘要:Internet protocol was designed withan objective that defines how computers willcommunicate over a network. Internet protocolplays a vital role over internet. Although IPv4 caneasily implemented and interoperable, it did notlook forward to the huge growth of internet andimminent exhaustion of IPv4 address space. Toimprove the addressing capacities of IPv4, IPv6was developed by IETF as next generation of IP.In this research work, we will evaluate theperformance of IPv4 and IPv6 in terms of someparameters like packet loss, latency, delay andthroughput using wired networks in OMNeT++.In order to evaluate the performance of IPv4 andIPv6, we designed two network models that areconfigured with IPv4 and IPv6, respectively inOMNeT++, which is a well-liked simulationplatform particularly suitable for the simulationof communication networks
