摘要：Information Systems remain a subject to attack bynatural and human threats. Security breaches and damages ofinformation systems are increasing daily yet there are stillchances of natural disasters affecting availability of InformationSystems. As a result, automated data are more susceptible todestruction, unavailability or loss. The aim of this study was toassess whether or not the Small and Medium Enterprises(SMEs) are adequately prepared to recover and resume theiroperations in the event of a disaster occurring. The researcherchose a descriptive-quantitative research design. Data wascollected using a self-constructed questionnaire. Conveniencesampling and stratified random sampling techniques were usedto select the main subjects of the study. Generally there was nosignificant difference between the perceptions of SMEsmanagement and non-management personnel on the disasterrecovery preparedness of SMEs. The study recommends furtherfuture studies to explore ways in which SMEs can be helped toappreciate the importance of disaster recovery planning
