摘要：In the last few years wireless sensor networks(WSN) have gained much research as well as commercialinterest due to their wide range of application specially deployedin hazardous, hostile or remote areas. WSN-MAC protocols aregenerally classified as contention-based and schedule-basedprotocols. This paper discusses the properties of WSN-MACprotocols and the challenges of schedule-based MAC protocols.Then it surveys by describing several schedule-based MACprotocols for WSN which follows a comparison by emphasizingtheir strength and weaknesses with some other properties.Finally open research issues on MAC layer of WSN are alsodiscussed.
