摘要：Security of the secret information has been achallenge when the large amount of data is exchanged on theinternet. A secure transfer of information can be very muchachieved by steganography and Cryptography. Steganographyis a tool for hiding information inside an image. Cryptographyis a tool which provides encryption techniques for securecommunication. This paper presents a survey on varioussteganograpgy techniques along with other techniques used inthe literature from 2003-2013. Several different techniques arementioned with their benefits, limitations, year of publicationand their authors. 65 papers were selected after contentfiltering out of more than 150 papers. LSB (least significantbits) technique was mostly used, while MSB (most significantbits) technique was very less used. There were also severalother techniques used such as SSHDT, RSTEG, DCT, DWT,LWT etc... in various papers. Combined techniques ofsteganography and cryptography were also used in somepapers. The survey results show that the steganogarph hasplayed a very beneficial role in various applications. Itincreased the level of information security with a wide use ofits techniques. It would be very useful and provide a betterplatform for the beginners who want to work in steganography.By analyzing the existing techniques more new techniques canbe developed.
