摘要：Postmortem artefact is defined as any change caused or a feature introduced into a body after death that is likely to lead to misinterpretation of medically significant ante mortem findings. Autopsy surgeon should be able to distinguish between ante-mortem and postmortem injury, misinterpretation of such artefacts can lead to wrong diagnosis of cause of death. Some artefacts are produced in two intervals between death and autopsy while others are during autopsy. In present case, post mortem artefact was introduced during autopsy i.e. rupture of heart led to a dilemma as to the real cause of death. Its implication and proposed cause are being presented herewith.
