摘要：This research focuses on highlighting the problems that are associated with the absence of reliable andbalanced information about the performance of an healthcare system and seeks to bridge the gap between the kind ofservices patients are currently receiving and what kinds of services they ought to be receiving. It emphasizes theproblems that are being caused by the lack of proper and standardized Health Information Systems in the Nigerianhealth sector. The aid of questionnaires and interviews were then employed in seeking and gathering information aboutalready existing health systems. Opinions were sought so that the research will be of immediate and tremendousadvantage to the health sector by working with infrastructure that are already in place and needed to be improved upon.The analysis was carried out between two existing Health Information Systems, NHMIS (National Health managementInformation System) and OpenEMR (Open Electronic Medical Records) respectively, both of which were chosen basedon their availability in the health sector at present and the opinions that were received through the administering ofquestionnaires and conducting of interviews.
