摘要:Data retrieved from body sensors such as ECG machines and new-generationmulti-sensor systems such as respiratory monitors are varied and abundant. Managing andintegrating this streaming data with existing types of medical information such as patientrecords, laboratory results, procedures, medical documents, and medical images in a logical andintuitive way is a challenge. Using a new generation of Lifeshirts embedded with real timemonitors for respiratory and heart functions as a testbed, a data management system for dealingwith such streaming body sensor data was developed. The streaming data from the Lifeshirt istransmitted on a real-time basis through wireless transmission to an IBM DB2 database. UsingBluetooth as the wireless transmission medium, a link layer scheme can be implemented foreffective and improvised streaming. The implementation of the data modeland architecture proposed, along with a wireless body- sensor technology will provide fasterand more volumes of continuous data on a real-time basis.
