摘要：Binarization is process to generate binary image from document image. Document image binarizationhas already under research from past many years, and many binarization algorithms have been proposed for differenttypes of degraded document images. Document image Binarization is very popular to upgrade old handwritten andmachine printed documents. Still to recover degraded document is very tedious job. Such document has the muchdamaged also presence of noise and degradation. There is a lot of scope to improve old and degraded documents.Image segmentation is method which used frequently in image processing. Thresholding is an important pre-processingstep for the degraded image to enhance their quality. The between the foreground text and the background of differentdocument images is a difficult task. New Binarization method using image segmentation using threshold segmentationis proposed. Proposed method can overcome the drawback of canny edge map.
