摘要:While global relocation activities and their accompanying costs continue to rise, companies simultaneously report relatively high failure rates for overseas assignments. Soft skills, including personality characteristics, likely contribute to the probability that an individual will adjust to a new culture and to the likelihood of success on an overseas assignment. This paper examines the role the hardiness personality characteristic and the Type A/B behavior pattern play in contributing to the ability of expatriates to adjust to unfamiliar cultures. The discussion suggests that these two personality characteristics should be evaluated when selecting employees for overseas assignments.
