There are not many information about epigaeic beetles of fir-beech forests in the Čergovské pohorie Mts. However, fir-beech forests present most numerous type of forest habitats in researched area. After previous silviculture incidences, nowadays they present habitat well differentiated in their age and space structure. Investigation of beetles was carried out in seasons 2007 and 2008. Material was sampled by formalin pitfall traps situated on four trapping sites located in different altitudes on northeast orientated slope in Baranie and Podbaranie localities. Pitfall traps were picked off monthly. Study confirmed presence of 107 species belonged into the 22 families. Most numerous were families Carabidae and Staphylinidae. Most significant founded species were Agyrtes bicolor Laporte de Castelnau, 1840, Licinus hoffmannseggi (Panzer, 1797), Catops kirbyi kirbyi (Spence, 1815) and Tetratoma ancora Fabricius, 1790. Research confirmed dominancy of the class Coleoptera in the frame of epigaeic macrofauna. There were founded differences in species richness in association to local conditions, level of environment disruption as well as to different altitude.
