In Slovakia oak stands are the biotopes liquidated on large areas by deforestation. Their majority were destroyed sooner than their ornithofauna could be investigated. The non-studied areas are also the fragments of thermophilous oak forests (Martinský les forest, Šenkvický háj forest, Silárd forest) in the Stoličný potok stream catchment (Trnavská pahorkatina upland) where in 2008 – 2009 were identified 56 bird species. From them 41 were nesting ones, 24 were nested in all three sites. The studied oak stands are characterized by dominant and euconstant species: Dendrocopos major , Erithacus rubecula , Turdus merula , Sylvia atricapilla , Cyanestes caeruleus , Parus major , Sitta europaea , Fringilla coelebs and Sturnus vulgaris .
