This research paper is focused on soil prostigmatid mites in plant habitats in SW Slovakia. Three sites were examined in the year 2009: Kamzík, Železná Studienka, Ovsište. Basic description of examined sites with their ecological comparison is given, with used research methods. In total nine habitats (3 in each site) in a period of 8 months, 5477 soil mites were collected. Of this number only 12.82 % (702 individuals) were prostigmatid mites. All together 10 families, 24 genera and 33 species were found (5 of them are first records in Slovak territory). Basic soil values were monitored (fresh and dry sample weight, water volume in sample) and also, in October and November, soil porosity and soil density of the samples.
