摘要:Television plays an important role in how the public both understands and takes an interest ingeography. As geographers, if we are to maximise the opportunities provided by television topromote geography, we need to understand how it is developing in the 21st century. The first partof this paper examines some of the concepts currently applied to the academic analysis oftelevision. It also attempts to place programmes with geographical themes within the currentmedia climate in Europe. The second part analyses four television series broadcast in the UKduring 2007 with an emphasis on their geographical content
