摘要：En los a.os en torno a la I Guerra Mundial una peque.a pero importante colecci¨®n de objetos de diferentes yacimientos c¨¢ntabros lleg¨® al AMNH de Nueva York de la mano del arque¨®logo norteamericano N. C. Nelson. En un trabajo anterior uno de los firmantes (RW) expuso en detalle las circunstancias historiogr¨¢ficas del traslado de los materiales espa.oles a los Estados Unidos. Aunque la representaci¨®n de los sitios cant¨¢bricos comprende las cuevas de El Castillo, Mor¨ªn y La Franca, adem¨¢s de otros yacimientos peninsulares, en este art¨ªculo nos centramos en el conjunto perteneciente a la cueva de El Castillo. La importancia de la secuencia de este yacimiento para la Prehistoria euro- pea, lo disperso de sus colecciones y el desconocimiento de los materiales del AMNH por parte de la comunidad cient¨ªfica, legitiman a nues- tro juicio una elecci¨®n prioritaria del mismo. Presentamos los datos obtenidos de un primer an¨¢lisis de la serie que comprende los materia- les l¨ªticos, ¨®seos, y la fauna as¨ª como una descripci¨®n de las muestras sedimentarias recogidas por Nelson, con especial incidencia de los niveles auri.acienses. Entre los materiales de El Castillo destaca la presencia de un fragmento ¨®seo humano (peron¨¦) en curso de estudio, cuyo an¨¢lisis deber¨¢ permitirnos su adscripci¨®n taxon¨®mica y cronol¨®gica
其他摘要：In the years immediately before and after World War I, a small but important collection of objects from various Cantabrian sites came to the AMNH in New York by the hands of the American archaeologist N. C. Nelson. In a previous work one of the authors (RW) described in detail the circumstances of the transfer of Spanish materials to the United States. Although the sites represented include the Cantabrian caves of El Castillo, Mor¨ªn and La Franca, along with other Spanish sites, in this article we focus on the set belonging to the cave of El Castillo. The importance of the sequence of this site for the overall prehistory of Europe, the range of its collections and scarcity of knowledge of this mate- rial by the Spanish scientific community, in our view justify the prioritizing of this sample. We present data from a first analysis of the samples comprising lithic materials, bone industry and fauna, as well as a description of the sediment samples collected by Nelson, with a special emphasis on Aurignacian levels. Among the materials from El Castillo is a human bone fragment (fibula) which is currently under study in order to establish the chronological and taxonomic attributions of the specimen
