摘要：Behavioural fiancé is a new emerging branch of finance which studies the psychological element in financial decision making and challenges the traditional theories of finance and economics. This branch of finance closely combines individual behavior and market phenomena and uses the knowledge taken from both the psychological field and financial theory. Investment preference for an avenue is greatly influenced by investment objective of investors and some other factors that influences in this decision making process. The main objective of this study is to explore the influence of investment objective and investment preference of individual investors in decision making with regard to 9 available investment avenues with respect to five demographic variables(n amely locality, income, education, age and occupation) in the selected 12 districts of Odisha. Furthermore, the relations between these factors and investment preference are examined and analysed by using different statistical tools and techniques in SPSS 17 application package. For this purpose data were collected from 400 respondents through a structured questionnaire. It is observed that influence of investment objective and investment preference have not significant relation with regard to demographic variables
