摘要：This new book by Massimo Paci presents various elements that give it a very particular appeal. It is not just the flowing writing, the clarity of presentation or the erudition and knowledge demonstrated on the topics and authors dealt with. Nor is it the simple attention to the historical processes, so rare in Italian sociology but by no means new in the author who had already highlighted this tendency in his works on the transformations of Italian society, the labour market, welfare, etc.. The source of the appeal above all lies elsewhere.
