摘要：Describir las características morfológicas de atletas de balonmano de una ciudad del norte de Brasil y comparar con atletas de alto rendimiento de otra ciudad del sur del país. Participaron 19 atletas de balonmano de la categoría adulto masculino y fueron analizadas las siguientes variables antropométricas: masa corporal, estatura, envergadura, longitud de la mano, diámetro radio-ulnar, perímetro del antebrazo, porcentaje de grasa, peso de grasa, peso magro. Los resultados de estos atletas fueron comparados con el mejor atleta por posición de los Joguinhos Abertos de Santa Catarina del año 2004. Correlación de la comparación entre los Pivotes, ha tenido una diferencia significativa en el porcentaje de grasa ( D % = 40,47%, p = 0,01) , en la masa magra ( D % = 54,17%, p = 0,03) en el diámetro radio-ulnar ( D % = 7,57%, p = 0,02) de los atletas participantes. Los extremos derechos presentan diferencias significativas apenas en el diámetro radio-ulnar ( D % = 5,07%, p = 0,03) y los extremos izquierdos en el porcentaje de grasa ( D % = 93,36%, p = 0,03). Entre los armadores derecho hay diferencias en la estatura ( D % = 4,73%, p = 0,03), en el izquierdo el porcentaje de grasa ( D % = 91,07%, p = 0,03) y en el central en la longitud de la mano ( D % = 19,80%, p = 0,03). 其他摘要：To describe the morphological characteristics of handball athletes in a city in north of Brazil and compare with high-performance athletes of another city in south of the country. 19 handball athletes of adult male category were analyzed in the following anthropometric variables: body mass, height, arm span, palm length, wrist breadth, perimeter forearm, fat percentage, fat weight and lean weight. The results of these athletes were compared with the best athletes for position of the Santa Catarina Open Games in 2004. A significant difference in fat percentage (% Δ = 40.47%, p = 0.01) in fat weight (Δ% = 54.17%, p = 0.03 ) and in wrist breadth (Δ% = 7.57%, p = 0.02) was found in the comparison between the pivots. The right wingers showed significant difference only in the wrist breadth (Δ% = 5.07%, p = 0.03) and left in fat percentage (% Δ = 93.36%, p = 0.03). Between the right backcourt players showed difference in height (Δ% = 4.73%, p = 0.03), left in fat percentage (% Δ = 91.07%, p = 0.03) and appeared in Central palm length (Δ% = 19.80%, p = 0.03). Athletes of the north in Brazil didn`t show morphological characteristics suitable for high-performance athletes, because they were below average team from the same high-performance sport.
