摘要:The article is devoted to honorary wardens of the district schools of Chernigov and Poltava provinces at the beginning of the nineteenth century. On the basis of archival materials and literature the author has studied the competence of these officials, identified them social status. As a rule, honorary wardens in this region were representatives of the wealthy nobility. They are often combined several elective offices. Honorary wardens were awarded ranks, had a high position in society, but did not receive a salary for their services.
