摘要:Today’s adult educators frequently work to meet set requirements, reach performance indicators or quotas, acquire and manage project funds, while the core of educational work - planning, teaching, advising, evaluating - is being pushed aside. To be provocative, is the image of the service provider in the field of adult education turning into one of a servant? How can the precarious conditions at the "continuing education workplace" be explained, conditions that stand in marked contradiction to the sociopolitical and economic meaning that has been allocated to lifelong learning? This article examines the critical parameters of collective, structural professionalization that should be discussed more intensively again in Germany as well as Austria. They are the institutionalization, the juridification, the professionalization, the academization and the making into a science of adult education/continuing education. The authors’ conclusion: a more intensive discussion of professionalization will again be necessary in both Germany and Austria. (Ed.)
