摘要:This treatment article of pluriactivity from a study with eleven farmers that combine agricultural activity with the recycling activity in the Cooperative of Recyclers of Organic and Inorganic Chemicals, located in the rural municipality of Santa Cecilia in South Northeastern State of Rio Grande do Sul. The overall objective of the study was to analyze the meaning of work for pluriactive family farmers, taking into account the binding of these to the Cooperative. The research is characterized as qualitative descriptive type. The empirical data were collected by conducting semi-structured interviews. The results showed that the social environment that integrate farmers has undergone significant transformations offering alternative work, to which farmers engage, resizing the conditions of social reproduction. It was found that the reconciliation of work with other agricultural activity has engendered new ways of working for the farmer. These meanings go beyond the economic aspect, relating to the scope of family relationships, sociability, social roles, autonomy of workers, the social function of work activities among others. Also evidenced by the researcher a negative sense of labor activity for subjects depending on the workload.
