其他摘要:As the father of modern American drama, Eugene O’Neill had created various female roles with distinctive characteristics, among which prostitutes should be paid special attention. They have showed their functions evidently and sometimes inconspicuously, which reveals O’Neill’s reflec-tion on woman as well as on the everlasting love rooted in human nature. In this thesis, the author focuses on the prostitutes in Eugene O’Neill’s plays, and tries to analyze their images by discussing the different kinds of loves with different degrees shown by them in order to demonstrate how they shine brightly under the suppression of complex and frustrated social condition.
