摘要:Introduction: The t ransformat ion of the system of nurse and midwife training is becoming the object o f emp irical research concerning the effect iveness o f the teaching/learning process. Purpose: To know the expect ations o f a chosen group o f student s towards vocational teachers and vocat ional training environment as well as the preferred forms and methods o f t raining. Material and methods: The st udy was co nducted among 240 students of nursing and midwifery at t he Medical University in Bialystok. The research tool was an original survey quest ionnaire. Results: A desired qualit y o f the vo catio nal teacher is t he ability to transmit knowledge (96%). Graduate students express their willingness to use act ive methods of teaching in theoretical courses (p≤.05) and see a po ssibi lity o f using their kno wledge for pro blem solving (p≤0.05). The respondents, especially undergraduate student s, have a positive opinio n about t heir teachers' content kno wledge (p≤0.05) and as regards t he d idact ic tools applied by teachers, in the scale fro m 1 to 5, their quality is assessed at 3.5 and their validit y – at 3.6. Conclusions: Vocat ional teachers should co nst ant ly improve their knowledge sharing skills, suppo rt t his knowledge wit h examples and use valid and good qualit y didactic too ls
