摘要:Introduction: Hyperthermia is characterized as the fourt h p illar in treating cancer, includ ing surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. Clinical studies suggest that the co mbination of hyperthermia with radiation and chemotherapy, can bring very good resu lts in treating various types of cancer, includin g co lon cancer. Purpose: To invest igate the effects o f hyperthermia in metastatic colorectal cancer in combinat ion with chemotherapy. Materials and methods: A clin ical study, which recruited 32 patient s with diagno sed colo rectal cancer. The pat ients were divided int o a reference group (15 patients), which received chemot herapy and sessions o f hyperthermia and in a contro l group (17 pat ients), which only received chemotherapy. For the applicat ion of hyperthermia, the Celsius 42+ machine was used. Imaging tests were perfo rmed befo re and after taking the regimens, in o rder to evaluate t he effect iveness of each treatment approach. Results: Through the imaging assessment, a positive o ut co me of the disease was observed, for the team o f hypert hermia (reference group). Specifically, when comp ared with the contro l group, the reference group sho wed a shrinkage of metast atic fo ci, derived fro m colon cancer. In co ntrast, in the cont rol group there was an increase of dimensio ns co mpared with hepatic metastases and metastases in the abdomen, while a steady state was maint ained regarding thoracic metast ases. Conclusions: The beneficial effects of hyper- thermia are undeniable, as year after year result ing mo re and more clinical trial data that support this view. The consolidatio n of the applicatio n of hyperthermia cancer treatment , is now a mat ter of time
