摘要:The exploitation of the wind energy resource is expected to have a key role in climate change mitigation in the Caribbean region. However, wind energy is also affected by climate change. The availability and reliability of wind energy depend on the climate conditions. An evaluation based on Weibull Distribution Model is done on the average monthly wind speed variation at a standard height of 10m over a ten year period in the island of Trinidad. The variations in the Power Density Per Unit Area of the wind are examined in relation to temperatu re changes for the last ten year period. The temperature is examined since increased temperatures provide significant evidence of global warming. In this paper, it was found that in Piarco, Trinidad, the highest average annual Power Density Per Unit Area i s 14.42Wm - 2 and occurred in the year 2004 at an annual average temperature 32.1 o C. By comparing these values with the Power Densities per Unit Area and temperatures for other years, the temperature did not have any significant impact on the distribution of wind energy. As such, the wind power potential in Trinidad is not jeopardiz ed by climate change
